Whangamata Beachfront Property Transformed into a Timeless Retreat

For over five years, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with my client to transform a dated 90’s property into a stunning beachfront retreat. The main challenge was to honour the natural beauty of Whangamata’s beachside location while creating a space that felt both timeless and homely.

The style of the home was a key consideration in the design process. The client wanted to move away from the typical Hamptons look often seen in beachfront properties, opting instead for a classic, enduring style that would suit both their personal tastes and family needs. This was a space that needed to stand the test of time while still feeling like a home.

Throughout the large renovation, I assisted with every detail—from reconfiguring the flow of the property to selecting colours, flooring, and furniture. Many of the pieces, including rugs and furniture, were custom made to suit the property’s unique scale and characteristics. Styling was also carefully curated, with indoor plants, homewares, and artwork sourced in collaboration with the client, ensuring every detail reflected their vision.

The final result is a beautiful, welcoming beachfront retreat, a perfect reflection of my client’s style and a space where family memories can be made for years to come.
